2012

Sayonara 2012

If you look that the Archives carefully, you'll notice that this is the very first post title that would probably make sense to you.  Yes, last year I decided I am ending my one-word post titles.  Twenty Twelve was a year of milestones.  It was a year of change but it was also a year of recollection, reconnection and re-evaluation.

Cake Garden

Perhaps the biggest change was my relocation from Kalibo back to Bohol.  Don't get me wrong, Kalibo is such a wonderful town and Boracay is just a few hours away.  However, the journey back to Bohol is imminent.  Cake Garden last year was gaining a lot of attention through its website and Facebook page.

Fine Quality Cakes & Pastries

Cake Garden is a family effort with Mum's leadership and passion.  She loves her product top-notch while still maintaining a friendly price for consumers.  On my end, I chose the layout of the gallery site, I shot all the photos and processed them, made the flyers and designed the logo.  Yes, all of us has a part in this endeavour.  Twenty Twelve gave us an insight on how we can improve in the years to come.  This year, we hope to give our customers a little lot better than last year.

Before beginning to bake, read the recipe through and note plan ahead. — Rose Levy Beranbaum

BVN Twelve

Another significant milestone is joining the Basic Volunteer Nurse program at Ramiro Community Hospital.  We are one of the fewest batch numbering only Twelve, which was suffice to say that we call ourselves BVN Twelve.

Free Taste

I say, as a group we do compliment each other, we laugh hard when we need to and we work hard on the floors.

Bahalag stipen ra. .ang smile ug thank you sa patient nga ato gservan is worthless. . .hehehe we learn nka.tabang pajud ta. .hehehehe — Sugar

He meant it's worth it.

Family

Caving In

We always try our best as a family to be together during December and last year was something special.  We conquered a cave in Danao and it was quite and experience.

We're a strange little band of characters trudging through life sharing diseases and toothpaste, coveting one another’s desserts, hiding shampoo, borrowing money, locking each other out of our rooms, inflicting pain and kissing to heal it in the same instant, loving, laughing, defending, and trying to figure out the common thread that bound us all together. — Erma Bombeck

It was a reminder that family is everything.  No matter how down you are, there is always the family at your back.  It was also a blessing that at least at the end of Twenty Twelve we can read several chapters from the Bible together and not just via Skype.

Some Realizations

  • I am turning Thirty this year.
  • I no longer have the pleasure of listening to any kind of music whatsoever when I hit the sack.
  • If you're unsure of the content you are about to post on Facebook or Twitter, don't post it.
  • Silence is deafening.
  • If you can do it now, do it now.
  • Don't be stupid, don't do anything stupid or think anything stupid.
  • We don't need time machines to travel back in time.  Sometimes all we need is a scent, a song or an app.
  • The internet can wait. — SENORICA
  • If you find something interesting, jot it down or any way you can save it for future use.
  • Not all those who wander are lost.
  • Thing that are different are not the same.
  • Know how to use and what to post on Facebook, Tumblr and Instagram.
  • Don't be reckless with other people's hearts. Don't put up with people who are reckless with yours. — SUNSCREEN

This post may be tad late for a year in review, but may you have a Happy and Blessed new year!  Don't worry about the future.  Or worry, but know that worrying is as effective as trying to solve an algebra equation by chewing bubble gum.

Symbolism

Philippine Flag Symbolism Let's be honest now.  How many of you did not know behind the symbols of our national flag?  Just so you know, it is a fact that everybody lies.  Anyway, probably you are wondering why I am posting in such a nationalistic tone when independence day was almost three months behind?  Well, that makes us both.  A thought just struck me when I saw the commercial segment of Juan Time in discovery channel.

Parley

I'm pretty sure you've read James Soriano's infamous article " Language, Learning, Identity, Privilege " which garnered him mostly criticism from people who live in front of their keyboards netizens.  I know some of you are probably making or joining hate pages on Facebook, seriously, grow up. I have edited this post for the nth time because there are still thoughts and ideas that need to sink in.  Also, I made a decision not to post or react when I am angry or pissed.  Sure, I was pissed when I first read the article.  Who wouldn't be?  But I just officially turned 28 and I need to act, you know - civilized.  You've got filter the facts and try to address the issue on how personally you can change for the better as a person.  I only found two response articles via Twitter:  " Editing James Soriano " and " Coming Home to the Filipino Language ".  If you have any article or known any worth-reading article you can message me here or

SOPA

Stop SOPA I t is not a long, upholstered couch with a back and two arms or raised ends that sits within the walls of your comfortable living room.  I believe it is a sofa?  This one is SOPA - Stop Online Piracy Act.  I would want to link the article in Wikipedia but the site will be having a blackout in protest to this censorship.  So what is it?  For sure it's not as comfortable as your sofa in your living room.  Here's the gist:  there is a bill in the U.S. Senate that if passed would cripple our freedom to publish right here in the web.  Still don't get it?   Fight for the Future does it better with this video right after the jump.
