Sanctuary

To The Reception Area

Bohol is full of surprises and today was one of those treasured moments.  The place we went to was located in a very remote area in Panglao and though I have read about this place in the papers, I never get the chance to visit until today.  The place exceeded my expectations and I was quite surprised why this place was never featured frequently on tourist destinations here in Bohol.  If you are ever coming to Bohol, please do drop by to this truly magical and wonderful place.  From here on, let the photographs speak for themselves.

Philippe Tarsier

Philippe Tarsier, a sanctuary for the soul, is an essence of calm and beauty in a natural environment, a concept created by Nicolas and Patricia Moussempes on the paradise island of Panglao, Bohol in the Visayas region.

Tarsier Exotica

In the air conditioned café, you will find a surprising choice of freshly made traditional French pastries such as eclairs, gateaux au chocolat, tartes au citron (lemon tarts), croissants and French baguettes. The menu also includes favorites such as banana split, made to order pizzas, pastas and sandwiches as well as our signature "Bohol ube roll". The talented "Boholano patissiers" have been trained in the art of French pastry making and bread making.

Tarsier Artistika

Arranged in three purpose built galleries, Tarsier Artistika is truly a "cabinet de curiosité" housing a personal collection acquired over 40 years of traveling around the world.  Nicolas Moussempes assembled his eclectic ensemble of art & objet d'art from several auction houses, European & Asian art dealers and fine galleries.  On display you will find classic European paintings including 16th century Dutch and Italian masters.  Romantics, impressionists, expressionists, modern and abstract paintings, Chinese ceramics, scrolls and porcelain, oriental carpets and African masks.

Symbolism

Philippine Flag Symbolism Let's be honest now.  How many of you did not know behind the symbols of our national flag?  Just so you know, it is a fact that everybody lies.  Anyway, probably you are wondering why I am posting in such a nationalistic tone when independence day was almost three months behind?  Well, that makes us both.  A thought just struck me when I saw the commercial segment of Juan Time in discovery channel.

Parley

I'm pretty sure you've read James Soriano's infamous article " Language, Learning, Identity, Privilege " which garnered him mostly criticism from people who live in front of their keyboards netizens.  I know some of you are probably making or joining hate pages on Facebook, seriously, grow up. I have edited this post for the nth time because there are still thoughts and ideas that need to sink in.  Also, I made a decision not to post or react when I am angry or pissed.  Sure, I was pissed when I first read the article.  Who wouldn't be?  But I just officially turned 28 and I need to act, you know - civilized.  You've got filter the facts and try to address the issue on how personally you can change for the better as a person.  I only found two response articles via Twitter:  " Editing James Soriano " and " Coming Home to the Filipino Language ".  If you have any article or known any worth-reading article you can message me here or

SOPA

Stop SOPA I t is not a long, upholstered couch with a back and two arms or raised ends that sits within the walls of your comfortable living room.  I believe it is a sofa?  This one is SOPA - Stop Online Piracy Act.  I would want to link the article in Wikipedia but the site will be having a blackout in protest to this censorship.  So what is it?  For sure it's not as comfortable as your sofa in your living room.  Here's the gist:  there is a bill in the U.S. Senate that if passed would cripple our freedom to publish right here in the web.  Still don't get it?   Fight for the Future does it better with this video right after the jump.
